Governor Kemp Announces $150 Million Solar Investment in Early County

Six weeks after pledging to “ensure that every part of our state has access to opportunity” in his first State of the State address, Governor Brian P. Kemp announced a significant capital investment coming to rural southwest Georgia. Silicon Ranch Corporation, the U.S. solar platform for Shell and one of America’s largest independent solar power producers, has committed to invest approximately $150 million in three solar projects in Early County.

Customized Golf Carts Anyone?

Nivel Parts and Manufacturing announced that they will be expanding their current facility in Cairo, Georgia to include their US manufacturing operations. The former MadJax building located at 2051 2nd Ave NE, which was acquired by Nivel Manufacturing in 2015, will house the future manufacturing production line.

Indian River Transport to Build New Terminal in Cordele, GA

Indian River Transport Company announced today that it plans to build a new trucking terminal in Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.  The new facility will have frontage along Interstate 75 at Exit 102.

The Cordele terminal will include offices, truck bays, washout facilities, and an asphalt pad of about eight acres for trailer storage.  Construction should begin in mid-2019.  Once completed, Indian River anticipates hiring approximately 125 people, with about 100 of those being commercial truck drivers.

Indian River is a privately-owned food grade tank carrier providing transportation services throughout the United States, while also offering import/export services between the US, Canada and Mexico.  The company is recognized nationwide as a leader in the trucking industry. Much of its liquid freight includes milk, various juices, and other beverages.

Check-Mate Industries to create 230 jobs in Thomasville, GA

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced that Check-Mate Industries, Inc., a family-owned manufacturer of metal stampings, assemblies, tools and dies, will create 230 jobs and invest more than $16 million in a new manufacturing location in Thomasville. New jobs will include positions throughout all levels of the organization including management teams and administrative personnel, as well as skilled positions such as computer numeric controlled machinists and tool and die makers.
