The Talent Pool: Humans and Robots Keep One Another Afloat

The backbone of the US economy is the manufacturing industry, which has significantly evolved in its use of technology to handle jobs originally managed by people. For example, Artificial Intelligence (AI) initially handled the heavy duty lifting in manufacturing that humans could not do, and now it can also handle physiological as well as repetitive intellectual duties. AI is useful in performing the daily redundant tasks like filling in details, assembling, customizing, monitoring the production levels and doing quality controls. So where does that leave the human workforce and its role in manufacturing?

GE Appliances Grows in Georgia with $130 Million Investment, 300 New Jobs

Governor Brian P. Kemp announced today that GE Appliances (GEA), a Haier company, is significantly expanding its operations in Georgia through three significant investment and job growth initiatives in the state. The initiatives include $43 million invested in the company’s Roper Corporation facility in Walker County, creating 100 new jobs; a $32 million investment to build a new Southern Logistics Center that will create 100 new jobs in Murray County; and a new $55 million smart warehouse, creating 100 new jobs in Jackson County.

Georgia Awarded Gold Shovel for Jobs and Investment

Today Governor Brian P. Kemp announced Georgia was awarded a Gold Shovel by Area Development Magazine for generating the most jobs and investment in the United States for the eight to twelve million population category.

“We are honored to receive the Gold Shovel in recognition of Georgia’s top-notch business environment, which creates immeasurable growth, investment, and opportunity in every corner of our state,” said Governor Kemp. “Our unmatched workforce, world-renowned logistics, and pro-business climate make the Peach State an ideal location for business investment. Plethora to Open Manufacturing Facility in Marietta, GA

Governor Brian P. Kemp announced today that Plethora, a leader in on-demand manufacturing of quality custom prototypes and end-production parts, will create 250 jobs and invest more than $17 million in a new production facility in Marietta.

“We are excited to welcome Plethora to Georgia,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “Our pro-business climate, abundant and advanced workforce, global accessibility, and access to world-class colleges and universities are only a few of the reasons why manufacturers are finding success in the Peach State. Over the past ten years, Georgia’s manufacturing GDP growth has outpaced the national rate, and with announcements like this one, we don’t see any signs of it slowing down.”

Hitachi Automotive Systems America expanding in Monroe, GA

Today, Governor Brian P. Kemp announced that Hitachi Automotive Systems Americas, Inc., a Tier 1 supplier of world-class products to the global automotive market, is planning to create 100 jobs and invest at least $100 million – with potential up to $330 million – in an expansion at their existing facility in Monroe, Georgia.

“We are excited that Hitachi chose to expand their facility in Monroe,” said Governor Kemp. “Hitachi has been a great partner to the Walton County community by investing in employees and creating jobs for more than twenty years. I am confident that this investment will not only positively impact the local community, but it will also encourage continued success in Georgia’s strong automotive industry.”
