The Georgia Beer Bill: One Year Later
It’s been nearly a year and a half since Georgia Governor Nathan Deal signed Senate Bill 85, otherwise known as the “booze bill,” into law. The legislation allows breweries and distilleries to sell their products directly to consumers who patronize their locations. Now that the law has been in effect for a year, it’s time to examine how the craft beer direct sales economy boost is going.

Vintech Industries to create approximately 30 jobs in Newnan
The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) today announced that VINTECH INDUSTRIES (VINTECH), a leading Tier Two Supplier to the Global Automotive Industry, will make a significant investment in Newnan following the purchase of a facility in the South Newnan Industrial Park. Slated to begin production in the first quarter of 2019, the project will initially create approximately 30 jobs.

Georgia Named Top State in the Nation for Business
For the fifth consecutive year, Georgia has been named the top state in the nation for business according to the publication Area Development. Governor Nathan Deal joined representatives from Area Development this September at the State of the Ports Address in Savannah to make the announcement. During a statement to the press, the governor said this “coveted distinction reflects the strength and resilience of our pro-business environment.” He credited a low tax structure, global gateways, and pro technology environment to success. In addition, the governor reaffirmed the state’s commitment to workforce and transportation infrastructure.

Nisshinbo Automotive Manufacturing, Inc. to create 100 jobs in Covington, GA
Gov. Nathan Deal today announced that Nisshinbo Automotive Manufacturing, Inc. (NAMI), a leading manufacturer and supplier of environmentally friendly brake pads, will create 100 jobs and invest $72 million in an expansion of its Covington facility.

Elixir Extrusions Announces Second Expansion in Douglas-Coffee County
The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) today announced that Elixir Extrusions, a manufacturer of custom aluminum extrusions and fabricated parts, will expand its operations in Douglas-Coffee County, creating 130 new jobs and investing $8 million. This is Elixir Extrusion’s second expansion in 15 months.
