Lidl US to Build Distribution Center, Create 270 Jobs in Newton County

Governor Brian P. Kemp today announced that Lidl US, a leading grocery retailer, will build a regional distribution center in Covington, Georgia. Lidl is investing $100 million in the project which will create 270 new full-time jobs.

“I am grateful for Lidl’s investment in Georgia and the tremendous opportunities that it will create for hardworking Georgians in Newton County,” said Governor Kemp. “Our logistics infrastructure puts domestic and international markets within arm’s reach, and leading brands from around the world are taking notice. As the No. 1 State for Business for seven years running, Georgia’s ability to support international companies looking to expand their U.S. footprint is unmatched.”

Mitsui Kinzoku Die-Casting Technology America, Inc. to build new facility

The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) announced today that Mitsui Kinzoku Die-Casting Technology America, Inc. (MKDA), a Japanese-based automotive parts manufacturer, will build a new manufacturing facility in Griffin, creating over 30 new jobs and investing $20 million in the project.

“We are grateful that MKDA chose to locate this new manufacturing facility in Griffin,” said GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson. “This marks the fifth location by a Japanese company in this region in the past six years. That growth is a result of the community’s foresight, commitment and partnership in attracting significant Japanese investment in Georgia. This facility will bolster Georgia’s booming automotive industry and ensure its success in the coming years, and we are proud to work with our local economic development partners to assist great international companies in locating to Georgia.”

Nippon Light Metal Georgia to Build Facility, Create 110 Jobs in Bartow Co.

Governor Brian P. Kemp today announced that Nippon Light Metal Georgia (NLMGA), a company specializing in aluminum products for the automotive industry, will build a new manufacturing facility in Adairsville, creating 110 jobs and investing $50 million in the project.

“This announcement is exciting news for Adairsville and the State of Georgia,” said Governor Kemp. “NLMGA is manufacturing the innovative products that will fuel the future of the automotive industry, and we are grateful that they chose to invest in our state. This new facility will create great opportunities for hardworking Georgians in Bartow County, and I am confident that our readily-available workforce will ensure their success in the region.”

From Site Selection Magazine: Georgia sets a record for the most consecutive top state business climate wins. Governor Brian Kemp, in his first year as state chief executive, weighs in.

There’s no need to remove the billboard signs at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport — the ones in the terminals touting Georgia as the best state for business. They’re accurate for another year, thanks to the Peach State’s seventh consecutive claim to that honor, according to Site Selection’s annual ranking of state business climates. Seven straight wins is unprecedented.

This measure of location attractiveness is unique in that it’s 50% based on objective criteria (see methodology on page 72) and 50% on subjective input, and not from the Site Selection editors. Site location experts in the corporate and consulting communities are asked to rank their top states and are invited to explain their selections.

Tyson Foods Expanding in Camilla, Mitchell County

Governor Brian P. Kemp announced today that Tyson Foods has expanded its existing facility in Camilla, creating 100 new jobs with an investment of $34.2 million.

“Georgia’s existing industries are a vital component for job growth in every corner of the state,” said Governor Kemp. “We are grateful that Tyson Foods is continuing their investment in the State of Georgia and excited for the new opportunities that this expansion will create for Mitchell County and the region.”

“This project is great news for our plant, our community, and our customers,” said Eddie Chancellor, Vice President – Operations at Tyson Foods. “We are committed to the community of Camilla and are pleased to add 100 new jobs with this expansion, while also meeting the growing demand for our products.”
