Insights From ICSC Florida Conference

Following this year’s Florida ICSC in Orlando, our Retail-Commercial Manager, Daniel, brings back key insights. Pickleball is in the spotlight; ACE Pickleball alone plans to open 125 new stores in the next three years.

Retailers like Burlington, 2nd & Charles, Crunch Fitness, and First Watch are also making ambitious expansion moves within the next five years. Let’s dive into these impactful trends and their influence on retail.

PICKLEBALL, PICKLEBALL, PICKLEBALL

Chances are you’ve caught wind of the nationwide Pickleball sensation!

This phenomenon ranked the fastest growing in the U.S. for the third consecutive year, has become a huge new demand driver for retail properties nationwide. It is breathing new life into vacant spaces left behind by big-box department stores.

At the recently concluded Florida ICSC in Orlando, Pickleball was a focal point among expanding concepts, helping fill vacant spaces that lost big-box department stores. As closures like Bed Bath & Beyond and the downsizing of other anchor retail tenants, landlords and developers are discovering Pickleball as an excellent backfill concept.

Based in Roswell, GA, ACE Pickleball actively seeks spaces ranging from 25,000 to 50,000 square feet with a minimum ceiling clearance of 17 inches. Co-tenancy with Publix or other national anchors is preferred. Remarkably, they plan to open 125 new stores over the next 3 years!

Could your community have a suitable space for an indoor Pickleball facility? Let’s explore the possibilities! Schedule a meeting with Daniel, our Retail-Commercial Development Manager, or email general inquiries to him at [email protected].
