Collaborative Efforts with Statewide Partners to Benefit Georgia

We are right in the middle of Spring! As expected, Economic Development is always top of mind for us, finding us at the Georgia Economic Developers Association’s Spring Workshop at Jekyll Island. ECG joins State and utility partners to share information on the latest programs and tools available in research, engineering, GIS, and more.

Our Office of Economic & Community Development has partnered with the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), Georgia EMC, and Georgia Power to offer an easy solution for listing and updating available properties throughout the State.

With this in mind, we are excited that our Director of External Affairs, Michelle Holbrook, a 20-year industry veteran, participated as a panelist in three sessions at GEDA’s Spring Workshop detailing resources provided by the utility partners as well as a collaborative effort to enhance the ease of property information display across each of the partner platforms. These sessions aim to equip our members and the State with the best tools and resources available for customized research, GIS mapping, and marketing materials to attract businesses interested in expansion, relocation, or creation.

“At ECG, we assist our member communities in identifying, analyzing, and marketing their assets to developers, consultants, and business owners, utilizing the latest in technology,” said Director of External Affairs Michelle Holbrook. “Partnering with GDEcD, Georgia Power, and Georgia EMC to contract with REsimplifi, a data provider for commercial buildings available for sale or lease in Georgia, will provide our local economic development organizations an avenue to keep their properties listed and updated across the statewide organizations.”

REsimplifi, a third-party solution data provider, will provide building data for each of the statewide organizations’ online property databases, offering the following benefits:

  • Improved quality and quantity of property data.
  • Data that is more up-to-date and accurate.
  • Higher coverage of available listings.
  • More consistent information across the different statewide databases.

This new partnership will also make it much easier for Georgia’s local economic development organizations to have their available commercial buildings seen by brokers and prospective businesses.

“As a local Economic Developer, it is extremely helpful to update buildings and sites at one location. In the past, we had to update four different statewide websites plus our local site. This is so much more convenient, streamlined, and accurate,” said Shelley Zorn, President & CEO, Thomasville Payroll Development Authority.
