Grants & Funding Opportunities | May 2021
ECG’s Office of Economic & Community Development assembles a list of current grants and funding opportunities monthly. We regularly update our blog and will continue to share information about additional funding opportunities.
This month we have included the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), providing general highlights and information. The U.S. Treasury continues to work on guidance details for the plan at this time.
Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT)
Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP)
Application Period: 4/20/21 – 7/31/21
Type: Grants ((matching funds required)
Georgia DOT partners with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in facilitating and providing an opportunity for local governments to pursue non-traditional transportation related activities such as pedestrian facilities, bicycle facilities, and pedestrian streetscaping projects. TAP improves the quality of life for citizens in communities across the state by providing local governments the means to pursue projects that might not otherwise be possible.
Eligible entities include: local governments, regional transportation authorities, transit agencies, natural resources or public lands agencies, school districts, local education agencies or schools, tribal governments, and any other local or regional governmental entity with responsibility for oversight of transportation or recreational trails (other than a MPO or a state agency that the state determines to be eligible).
Eligible Projects include: Pedestrian and Bicycle Facilities; Streetscape Improvements; Safe Routes to School Program.
