Forsyth, GA – Electric Cities of Georgia (ECG) hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for its new ECG Training Institute location on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Indian Springs Business Park in Forsyth, Georgia. This is a milestone achievement for ECG, reflecting its commitment to workforce development, innovation, and the future of public power.

The 12,000-square-foot facility will consolidate ECG’s current training sites in Newnan and Adel, enhancing efficiency and capacity to address the evolving needs of the utility industry. The institute will offer specialized training for Electrical Lineworkers, from entry-level apprenticeships to advanced certifications, alongside programs for interpersonal and leadership development for all utility professionals.

Walter West, President and CEO of ECG, highlighted the importance of the training facility, stating, “The Training Institute aims not only to address current needs but also to prepare for future challenges, ensuring that as energy technologies evolve and demands shift, ECG can deliver innovative training solutions, keeping member communities strong and competitive for years to come.”

Jason Shaw, Chairman, Georgia Public Service Commission, remarked, “Georgia is growing the way it is because we have the knowledge, the capacity, the ability, and the wherewithal to meet the demands ahead.
